چکیده

A 50-year-old man was referred for subacute intracranial hypertension. MRI revealed a well-circumscribed lesion in the posterior fossa that was hypointense on T1-weighted imaging and hyperintense on T2-weighted imaging (figure 1, A and E). Cerebral blood volume map and sequential postcontrast T1-weighted images showed progressive increase in the homogeneity of the contrast enhancement, indicating that the lesion had low but substantial flow (figure 1, B–D). Digital subtraction angiography showed a vascular lesion with a central to peripheral pattern of vascularity and absence of early venous return (figure 1, F–H). The lesion was resected. Pathologic examination revealed a capillary-venous malformation (figure 2). This case highlights that MRI can identify low flow in vascular malformations.

High-Flow Vascular Malformation of Ear: A Case Report

Vascular anomalies are categorized into vascular tumours or vascular malformations on the basis of clinical features and histopathology. The literature regarding high flow arteriovenous malformations of the auricle is rare. A case of a patient clinically diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation of the external ear and was managed with preoperative embolization, surgical excision and reconst...

Review on treatment of craniocervical soft tissues arterovenous malformations and hemangiomas

Vascular malformations include several vascular abnormalities, congenital in most cases, classified according to their dynamic flow characteristics into high-flow and low-flow abnormalities; both types are commonly located in the head and neck region. Imaging modalities such as Echocolor-Doppler, CT, and MRI can be employed in the evaluation of vascular malformations’ in order to describe their...

Intramuscular Vascular Malformation of the Masseter Muscle – a Case Report

Intramuscular vascular malformations are occasionally diagnosed as haemangioma, as similar characteristic features have been reported, particularly on image findings. Haemangioma are benign endothelial cell-derived tumors, while vascular malformations are not true tumors, but instead are congenital abnormalities without increases in endothelial cell proliferation. Haemangiomas become evident sh...

Postcontrast time-of-flight MR angiography demonstrating collateral flow in acute stroke.

Postcontrast Time-of-Flight MR Angiography Demonstrating Collateral Flow in Acute Stroke To the Editor: In their interesting study, Pedraza et al1 showed that the postperfusion contrast-enhanced time-of-flight (TOF) MR angiography (Post-CE-MRA) can demonstrate arterial segment with low flow and avoid overestimation of vascular obstruction. We agree that Post-CE-MRA supplies additional informati...

Increased cerebrospinal fluid flow through the foramen of Magendie after decompression for Chiari I malformation.

A 15 year old patient with a 6 month history of cough headache was diagnosed as having a Chiari I malformation. The midsagittal T1 weighted MRI shows the tonsillar ectopia (figure A). A flow sensitive MRI, cardiac triggered gradient echo T2* weighted sequence obtained at 200 ms from the R wave, showed absence of CSF flow through the foramen of Magendie (figure B). After craniovertebral decompre...
